Scans

Whilst you were in hospital, you would have had many scans in order for the doctors and nurses to understand what was going on inside your head.

A scan is like having a very clever photograph taken of inside the brain. The person who takes the pictures is called a Radiographer. There a few different scans you can have, although the chances are that you will have an MRI Scan or a CT Scan:

  • MRI Scan - MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • CT Scan (used to be called a CAT scan) - CT stands for Computer Tomography.
Once you have gone home, it is likely that you will have to have scans in the future. This is just so that the doctors can keep a close eye on how the brain is recovering after you leave hospital.
