Boyfriends and girlfriends

This section will tell you what it is like trying to be in a relationship with your boyfriend or girlfriend.

Most teenagers will have a boyfriend or girlfriend at some point and so you may find that hurting your head has caused a few problems that you hadn’t thought of.

A lot of what has been said in the friends section also applies to having a boyfriend and girlfriend.

You may have a really nice girlfriend or boyfriend who has been very patient and helped you with all sorts of things since hurting your head, or maybe you haven’t seen your boyfriend of girlfriend much and that has been difficult.

It can be hard for a boyfriend or girlfriend to know how you feel and they also might find that you have changed a bit and don’t know how to react around you. They may even feel like they have to get to know you all over again and this can put your relationship under strain.

Sometimes relationships can breakdown. You should try not to blame yourself or think it is just because you hurt your head. Lots of people split up from their girlfriend or boyfriend just like some parents get divorced and there can be all sorts of reasons for this.

People are very complicated and over time couples can sometimes decide they aren’t right for each other anymore. It is no-ones fault, it’s just the way things go sometimes.

You will find, as you go through life, you will meet other people you are attracted to and you will develop new relationships.

Spend the next few months trying to learn about yourself. There is plenty of time for relationships later. It’s a good idea to stay focused on your recovery and look at other things that make you happy right now.
