Finding a rehabilitation centre

There are many different types of rehabilitation so a lot will depend on what type of rehabilitation you need.  A lot will also depend on what facilities you have in your area. Unfortunately, rehabilitation for ABI can be hard to find but there are some special centres that you might be able to go to.

The Children's Trust is a national charity that runs the UK’s largest children’s rehabilitation centre in Tadworth, Surrey. Children either stay at Tadworth for rehabilitation or the Trust has a Community Support Team that works with them at home. The National Health Service also has a few rehabilitation centres although funding for these can be tight and they could be difficult to get into because there aren't that many in the country.

If you are looking for a rehabilitation centre, the best thing to do is ask those professionals who are familiar with your case for more advice on how to proceed in your local area.

You should also contact CBIT - the Children's Brain Injury Trust for more information. You can find their contact details in the 'contacts' section. Getting into rehabilitation can be slow and frustrating process and we recommend that you contact them for more support.

The gang below can tell you about their experiences in rehabilitation and what they did when they were there.

“I went to The Children's Trust in Tadworth, a special rehabilitation place for helping young people adjust to having an ABI.”

“I’m also going to rehab. I have different problems to Mike but they can help me too!”
